Here at Coast Digital, when we’re not working hard within the ever changing world of digital marketing we love nothing more than a good old fashioned spot of tea and cake. So when a couple of Coasties spread the word that we could mix our favourite pastime while raising money for a good cause, we were all extremely keen on the idea!
Macmillan Cancer Support’s ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ is one of the charity’s biggest fundraising events. Following its humble beginnings in 1991, the event has since gone on to raise a staggering £75million in total for Macmillan Cancer Support, with 115,000 people signing up to a coffee morning last year.
The concept is simple – meet, mingle and have a morning spot of cake and coffee, while donating the proceeds of their refreshments to Macmillan in the process.
While we always knew we would have few problems in demand for the wonderful array of cake, we weren’t expecting quite the display of baking brilliance that we were lucky enough to witness. Although not all of our wannabe bakers are likely to have Mary Berry or Paul Hollywood quaking in their boots, it’s fair to say that our coffee morning inspired something of a competitive side with some Coasties!
A resounding success, our coffee morning offered a fantastic way to start our Friday, with everyone at the company more than happy to donate to a good cause. Stay tuned to our Twitter feed to discover our final fundraising total, but in the meantime, we hope you enjoy these images of our big day!
