The following are some of the more frequently asked questions with regard to our hosting services.
Q. How much does hosting cost?
Please check our hosting packages page for up to date pricing. Prices start from £17 a month + VAT for HTML sites and £33 a month + VAT for ColdFusion sites.
Q. Is there an initial set up fee?
Yes, there is an initial set up fee of £50 + VAT.
Q. Does the hosting package include email and DNS management?
Yes, all hosting packages include 10 POP email accounts and full DNS management.
Q. Does the hosting package include web statistics?
Yes, all hosting packages include access to the Deep Metrix Live Stats system.
Q. How much space do I get and how much does additional space cost?
The amount of space allocated will vary dependent upon the hosting package you opt for. Extra space can be allocated for you at £25 + VAT per 25MB per year.
Q. How much bandwidth is allocated and and how much does extra bandwidth cost?
The bandwidth supplied with each site will vary dependent upon the hosting package you opt for. The standard data transfer rate commences at 2GB a month.
Transfers exceeding the allocated rate are invoiced in arrears at £5 per GB per month.
Q. How long will it take to set up my hosting account?
Your hosting account will be set up within 24 hours of Coast Digital receiving a purchase order or appropriate authority to proceed.
However, domain transfers can take several days to propagate and Coast Digital has no control over this process.
Q. What information do you require to set up my hosting account?
Coast Digital will require a purchase order or appropriate authority to proceed, together with billing details.
We will also require details of the domain or domains you wish to be hosted and any special custom tags you may require (for ColdFusion sites only).
You will also need to provide us with the email addresses you wish to have set up, if required.
Q. What information will I receive once the hosting is set up?
We will provide FTP and POP 3 email details, if required, and two copies of our Hosting Agreement, one of which you will need to sign and return.
Q. Will I have access to the ColdFusion administrator? (applicable to ColdFusion sites only)
No, access to the administrator is not provided as this would be a security issue.
Q. Will I have access to the SQL server administrator?
Yes, although you will need to have a static IP.
Q. Which custom tags are available? (applicable to ColdFusion sites only)
Most tags including CFFILE, CFCONTENT and CFDIRECTORY are available.
Q. Can I use my own CFX tags? (applicable to ColdFusion sites only)
Yes. Note that that CFX tags will incur an installation charge of £50.
