Search Engine Optimisation

What is search engine optimisation?

Search engine optimisation (SEO) is a series of techniques designed to increase the quantity and quality of traffic sent to a website by 'natural' (or 'organic') search engine results. Coast Digital offers effective SEO that will push your site higher up search engine listings.

Why SEO is important

Good SEO gets you noticed, generates trust and attracts business.

If a search query places your website at the top of Google's results, then 42% of people will visit your site. If you are listed second, 19% of people will click through. If you're third, the figure drops to 8%.

Put simply, if you improve your search engine optimisation, you will appear higher on results pages and win a larger share of visitors and customers. At Coast Digital, our goal is to use SEO to achieve better profit and exposure for our clients.

Examples of good search engine optimisation

Type online marketing agency into Google and you’ll see Coast Digital at the top of the page. We’re there because we’ve taken care with ethical SEO and worked hard to attract customers with an interest in online marketing. We’ve done it because we want people like you to become a client too, if you aren’t one already.

We will do the same on your behalf, and our expert team has over a decade’s experience of search engine optimisation. If you look at our case studies, you will find many other examples where we’ve helped businesses and organisations achieve an impressive search engine ranking. If you want to try it out for yourself, type Garden Ponds into Google – the top ranked site, Seapets, is a Coast Digital client. We also bring them a 10:1 return on their investment for paid search campaigns. Or try tapping in managed hosting and looking for one of our newer clients, Netbenefit.

How SEO works

Search engine optimisation techniques fall broadly into two categories: on-page optimisation and off-page optimisation.

On-page optimisation is partly about making sure a website’s design does not cause problems when it is automatically indexed by a search engine. It also involves making website content more relevant to certain search queries, including the use of keywords, key phrases and (in a site’s HTML code) targeted meta data.

Off-page optimisation includes many techniques designed to encourage search engines to give you a higher ranking. The most common is building links to a site from other, respected sites – giving you a popularity boost, and the authority that comes with a higher ranking.
