According to a recent blog post from YouTube the social video site has now achieved some highly impressive figures. From relatively humble beginnings the sheer scale of the YouTube operation is now plain to see.
The blog post states that whilst in 2007 just 6 hours of video were uploaded every minute, now a massive 60 hours of video per minute is being uploaded. This equates to an hour of video every second, 9 months every two hours, every 10 days a century of video. The stats are truly amazing and show just how important the Google owned YouTube has become to internet behaviour.
It’s not just video uploads however, the blog post highlights that more than 4 billion videos are being watched every single day. Interestingly the biggest leaps in both uploads and video views have happened recently; most likely due to the growth of different viewing platforms such as mobile and smart TV and also due to the larger amount of professional video content now available on YouTube.
