Google Goggles interprets text in photos

Have you ever felt helpless as you browsed through a menu in a restaurant abroad? Do you have difficulties distinguishing an escargot from a grenouille, or a hackepeter from some hasenpfeffer?

If so, then you need the latest version of Google Goggles, the visual search application for Android phones.

Google Goggles works by analysing mobile photos with optical character recognition (OCR), and is capable of translating text from one language to another. It can also read business cards, tell you the name of shops you are looking at, and generally provide you with a new way of searching and learning about physical objects.

The translation function will be of particular interest to people who sell in different world markets, such as international eCommerce firms. And while translation is not generally available just now, there's plenty that Google Goggles can already do for you - watch the video below to find out more.
