Google has added to its search portfolio by buying the Aardvark social search service.
Aardvark differs from conventional search in that it allows you to tap into an extended network of users and ask them for answers to your questions.
You can either type your question into the company's website at vark.com or into a linked-up service like Google Talk. Aardvark will then distribute your question to a number of people who claim the relevant area of expertise.
For example, if you typed in "Where can I find out more information about digital direct marketing for the iPhone?" Aardvark would circulate your query to people who have said they know about mobile phones.
Aadrvark has now been ported to Google Labs, where it will hopefully gather the large user-base needed to make it a much more social and effective service. Give it a try. What implications it may have for SEO, however, remain to be seen.
