The UK Film Council's Digital Innovation in Distribution scheme has earmarked up to £150,000 for UK film distributors to develop online marketing promotions.
The scheme, which will run until 2010, will make up to five awards of £30,000 to develop digital marketing campaigns, which could include elements such as interactive website design, viral marketing, podcasts, film trailers and more.
Applicants will be encouraged to place focus on audience research, gathering details from people online that will help them measure the campaign's effectiveness. The campaigns will also be able to engage audiences before the usual four-week marketing push.
The UK Film Council's Distribution and Exhibition Fund head, Pete Buckingham, said: “The UKFC is driving forward new solutions for reaching out to consumers and we want this process to inspire unique plans to tap into the growing appetite to discover film online."
