If nothing else, it certainly had one of the wittiest sofware launches on Twitter. As @office put it:
Beta watch out, beta not cry, beta is coming to town. Get the Office 2010 beta http://bit.ly/1hKHq
Yes, Microsoft Office 2010 has now been launched to the general public, after developers were given first bite of the cherry earlier this week.
The available download, which is the Professional Plus version of the software, bundles the new versions of Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access and OneNote.
New features that have been flagged up include Outlook Social Connector, which brings social networking and collaboration into the flagship email program.
"The Outlook Social Connector will enable both business and social networking by integrating with SharePoint 2010 at beta and Windows Live at launch," said Kurt DelBene, senior vice president of Microsoft's Office Business Productivity Group.
Also this week, Microsoft is launching beta versions of Project 2010, Visio 2010, Office Mobile 2010 and Sharepoint Server 2010.
