B2C ecommerce predicted to pick up in 2010

Business-to-consumer online sales dipped in 2008 and are likely to remain under par until 2010, according to new research by eMarketer.

The study examined other reports into UK ecommerce and found that, although many predicted an upsurge in online shopping, this didn't necessarily translate into higher spending. Indeed, lower internet prices are likely to bring down the cost of many items.

That said, the research predicted that a significant proportion of people are likely to spend a greater proportion of their overall retail budget online. In addition, the number of online customers is poised to rise to 31.8 million people — a shade over half the entire population — by 2013.

Wise e-tailers will be investing in search engine optimised web design to make sure they are ready for the moment ecommerce starts growing faster. If you would like help to do this, please contact us today.
