Ticketmaster fail

David Wharram Photograph

After the long awaited release of Take That’s new tour tickets surely Ticketmaster would ensure their servers wouldn’t fall down and are prepared for the levels of traffic which comes with a major band selling tickets? Apparently not! The site has been struggling all morning and now seems to have succumbed to the sheer numbers of excited fans.

There is another theory however, it’s a bit cynical, but could it be that the hype generated with frustrated fans simply boosts Ticketmasters online presence? I’m not suggesting this failure is intentional of course but does it really hurt their sales, they have an allocated ticket allowance after all...

An interesting thought, judging by the conversations on Twitter and Facebook this afternoon they've not come across well. Long term I doubt that it will do much damage though, but does seem a gamble if it was intentional.
